Philip Pelkington

My journey as a voice teacher began in 2001, but my love of music goes back to my childhood. I would sing in church and be told by people that I sounded amazing. Of course, my mother just told me to shush, but thankfully, I never listened to her.

Through the years, I’ve been blessed to be able to work with some incredibly talented students like Lilla Crawford, Dana Gaier, Brianna Mazzola, Bea Miller and Brighton Thomas, to name just a few.

For me, teaching is about truth, respect, and reverence. What sets me apart from other voice teachers is the genuine connection I make with my students. I help them develop into the next generation of talent, whether it be on stage as a Pop Star, on Broadway, TV/Film, Voice-over or even in a local school production.

At the very first lesson, I put my students at ease by encouraging and showing them how to respect their instruments. I teach my students to build their voices and gain confidence (because they both matter greatly) to get them to sing the best they can, and I do so in a safe, nurturing, and collaborative environment.

Helping the students to let go and just sing can be a beautiful experience, and it is the pathway to the most genuine performance. For the aspiring artist who has the desire, and the family who has the dedication and seriousness, I am the one to help you get there! I have had the pleasure to work with a number of talented students performing in a variety of venues.

When I am not teaching, I enjoy being creative in the kitchen, as well as traveling around the world. I have visited 78 countries on six continents to date, including a mountain gorilla trek in Rwanda. How many voice teachers do you know who have been sucker punched by a Silver Back and have the video to prove it?
